“I came to India for the first time, at the right time,” says David Beckham amid Kohli-mania

Football icon David Beckham found himself in the heart of Kohli-mania during the recent India vs. New Zealand semifinal clash. The former England captain not only witnessed Virat Kohli’s record-breaking 50th ton but also became a part of the star-studded audience alongside cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

Beckham, who expressed his excitement about watching Kohli in action before the match, couldn’t hide his admiration for the Indian cricket sensation. After witnessing Kohli’s historic century, the football star took to Instagram to share glimpses of his interaction with the Indian cricket team, proving that even global icons can’t resist the allure of cricket fever.

“I’m in India at the very right time. I’ve seen Diwali, and today I saw Virat Kohli bat and reach his 50th century,” Beckham exclaimed, capturing the essence of his star-studded Indian experience.

The electrifying atmosphere wasn’t limited to the cricketing legends; Bollywood glittered in the stands with the presence of stars like Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra, adding a touch of glam to the already high-profile event.

The moment that stole the spotlight was Kohli’s heartfelt tribute to Sachin Tendulkar after completing his ton. As the Indian cricket maestro bowed towards Tendulkar in the stands, it marked a passing of the cricketing torch, a gesture that resonated with fans worldwide.

Beyond the cricket pitch, Beckham’s visit to India is not just about sports and star-studded events. As UNICEF’s goodwill ambassador since 2005, the ex-footballer is on a tour of the country to gain insights into the state of action and contribute towards advocating for child rights and gender equality. This aligns seamlessly with the global theme for World Children’s Day 2023, showcasing Beckham’s commitment to making a positive impact beyond the realm of sports.
